How to Apply

Want to Become a CREATE Student?

The CREATE-CFS program seeks motivated trainees at the undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral levels who have a marked interest in continuous flow science and related fields. Students are strongly encouraged to discuss possible projects of mutual interest with a potential advisor among the eleven (11) principal investigators to see if full or partial funding can be made available to them.

In addition to fulfilling their degree requirements (core curriculum) from their host university, admitted CREATE students are required to:

  • Address the CREATE-CFS program's research themes by incorporating some elements of continuous flow science into their thesis project;
  • Attend and/or participate in all CREATE-CFS activities throughout the year. These include workshops, courses, lectures, summer school, annual symposium, etc.;
  • Provide their name, picture, project title and any public research results to be posted on the CREATE-CFS website for archival purposes;
  • Take advantage of all initiatives carried out by the CREATE-CFS program to cultivate practical skills and strengthen interpersonal development capacities.

Procedure to Apply to Graduate Scholarships
Fill Out Application Form

Application deadline: any time
Awarded amount: may vary

Goal

The graduate scholarships awarded by the CREATE-CFS program aim to recruit highly motivated and talented students willing to broaden their professional horizons and work on related continuous flow science (CFS) projects as part of their thesis research.

Eligibility

Applicants must be graduate students enrolled in natural sciences and/or engineering under the direct supervision of at least one CREATE member professor at one of the host institutions. Note: CREATE-CFS graduate scholarships may be combined with any other source of funding (ex: NSERC, FRQNT, etc.).

Selection Criteria

  • Academic excellence;
  • Research Experience.

Requirements

Interested candidates must first contact their research supervisor to discuss the possibility of joining the CREATE-CFS program and, upon mutual agreement, send the Scientific Coordinator the fully completed application form along with a one-page cover letter, a CV, a half-page outline of the proposed research project and official transcripts.

Procedure to Apply to Undergraduate Scholarships
Fill Out Application Form

Application deadline: March 1, 2015
Awarded amount: $4,000/trainee

Goal

The undergraduate scholarships awarded by the CREATE-CFS program aim to introduce young students to continuous flow science (CFS) by doing a summer research internship, which may eventually convince them to further their education at the graduate level.

Eligibility

Applicants must be undergraduate students enrolled in natural sciences and/or engineering willing undertake a research project in CFS during the summer. Warning: CREATE-CFS undergraduate scholarships cannot be combined with any other award (ex: NSERC, CGCC, etc.), in which case students will have to decline one or the other.

Selection Criteria

  • Academic excellence;
  • Relevance of the research project.

Requirements

Interested candidates must send the Scientific Coordinator the fully completed application form along with a one-page cover letter, a CV, a half-page outline of the proposed research project and official transcripts.

Procedure to Apply to Travel Scholarships
Fill Out Application Form

Application deadline: April 15, 2015
Awarded amount: up to $2,000/trainee*
* It is possible to combine several conferences in order to reach the maximum travel allowance.

Goal

The travel scholarships awarded by the CREATE-CFS program aim to share and expand students' knowledge in continuous flow science (CFS) and to improve their communication and interpersonal skills.

Eligibility

Applicants must be CREATE-CFS students willing to participate in a symposium featuring CFS (ex: continuous flow synthesis, microfluidics, development of continuous flow devices, etc.).

Selection Criteria

  • Relevance of the conference to the academic and professional training of the CREATE trainee;
  • Academic excellence;
  • Priority to trainees who present an oral or a poster communication at a symposium featuring CFS.

Covered expenses

  • Travel fees;
  • Accommodation fees;
  • Registration fees.

NB: Proposed budget must be deemed reasonable, otherwise the travel allowance may be reduced by the Management Committee upon deliberation.

Requirements

Interested candidates must send the Scientific Coordinator the fully completed application form along with a half-page abstract and a cost projection. Upon their return, trainees who have been selected to receive a travel allowance must present a full account of their conference at an upcoming CREATE-CFS activity.
